Traveling and Hotels – Choosing the Right Hotel
Traveling and hotels are a huge business worldwide. With increasing globalization, digitalization, and sustainability, the industry has seen a boom in growth recently. However, the coronavirus pandemic has changed many things and caused travelers to be more cautious.
Choosing the right hotel for your vacation is important, whether you’re traveling for business or for fun. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you decide where you want to stay.
Decide what amenities are most important to you. Do you need to be close to certain attractions? Do you want a restaurant on-site, a pool, or other amenities? If so, set these parameters in your search engine to get a more accurate selection of options.
Look at pictures of the rooms you are interested in. Sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words, but not all rooms are created equal. Be especially careful with AirBnBs and guesthouses, where descriptions of the location may be misleading. For example, a listing may say that it’s “near” a popular attraction, but if you have mobility issues, that might mean a four-story walk or no elevator!
Check with convention and visitors bureaus. They often partner with local hotels to offer discounts and perks for travelers. They also might know about local events or other happenings that could make your trip even better.
Read reviews, but don’t take them too seriously. For every negative one, there are ten positive ones. And most online reviews are already a couple of years old, which can be deceiving.
